Add Knowledge embeds the entire Scottish primary school curriculum within state-of-the-art video games, delivered free-of-charge to every child in Scotland, including a free video game console. This proven methodology has resulted in a 10-30% improvement in pupil achievement

The University of Abertay Dundee and ADD Knowledge has created a unique partnership, combining academic rigour with big business experience. The partnership will generate hundreds of jobs, multiple spinoffs, rooting Scotland at the forefront of educational games creation and research.

ADD Knowledge will capture the home study opportunity to enhance classroom performance by primary school children using methods already proven in the USA, giving Scottish children a significant head start by secondary school.

Teacher contact time in class is constantly under pressure and is being reduced in Scotland to 22.5 hours per week. Even within that contact time, little more than 30% is spent on teaching in the primary school classroom. Whilst there are varying policies regarding supplementing and reinforcing classroom activities with “homework,” most schools set around 15 minutes homework in P1-3 rising to 30 minutes through P4-7. The contribution of standard homework to classroom performance continues to be the subject of debate. However, the ADD Knowledge proposition is modelled on the successful Lightspan model in the USA where it was found that students were spending an additional sixty minutes of time per day on curriculum activities via interactive games, leading to significant increases in these students' performance in standard tests. The student with access to entertainment quality educational material gives up time that would otherwise be spent on television or standard video games to spend this time on education. Students spending discretionary time on core curriculum! A dream come true for educators!

Allow us to introduce you to our Products
tokiadoki is the World-wide publishing imprint for all Add Knowledge products. It is also the name of our web portal. The tokiadoki products used at home do not require Internet connectivity however, the tokiadoki portal serves as an optional enhancement to the products used at home. Each tokiadoki product has its own web area were children can get help – hints, participate in competitions and upload their high scores or game “snapshots.” The tokiadoki portal also serves as a resource for teachers who may wish to correlate specific educational goals to specific games.
